A variety of synthetic protocols for the construction of heterocyclic systems employing silica-bound catalysts has been described. Specifically silica supported acids and bases has been taken into account as they are convenient alternatives to typical acid and base catalysts in order to avoid environmental pollution and corrosion problems.
