Turfgrass in Italy is growing in importance despite the lack of research aimed at giving information for a correct varietal choice. The objective of the present research was to look at within species variation for the most important turfgrass species. A total of 53 varieties belonging to 5 species were evaluated. The results indicated that varietal differences within each species do exist and a proper choice of varieties is important.
