Leg-proprioceptive stimulation in intact humans during rotation of the feet under the stationary body induces nystagmus. The slow component of this leg-eye response reaches a considerable magnitude only at low stimulus frequencies/velocities. It appears to sum linearly with the vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) and to prevent VOR gain attenuation at low frequencies, if the body is rotated on the stationary feet.
