This essay is dedicated to an artwork by Federico Barocci, in the Patrick Matthiesen collection (London), which depicts the gift of a token of love - a branch of oak fruity with acorns - by a young knight, to a woman of the same age. In this essay it is proposed to identify the double portrait of Ippolito Feltrio della Rovere (1554 – 1620) and Isabella Vitelli (married in 1585). It supports this identification, the comparison with the portrait of Ippolito di Rovere, painted by Federico Barocci in 1602 (London, Embassy of Italy).
