Through the analysis of the influence exercised by Shakespeare’s work over Montale’s poetry, and by observing the modalities through which the dialogue with the literary past operates within the text, this study uses intertextuality as a key to interpret and understand the way in which Montale’s poetry copes with the experience of crisis.
