In view of the shortcomings of the prior art, it is an object of the present invention to provide an improved system and method for predicting the onset of parturition in a mammalian female. It is a further object of the present invention to provide an improved system and method for detecting the onset of parturition in a female. It is a further object of the present invention to provide an improved system and method for determining the attainment of fetal readiness for parturition in a mammalian female. It is a further object of the present invention to provide an improved system and method for determining the occurrence of fetal stress syndrome in a mammalian female. It is a still further object of the present invention to provide a system and method for predicting the onset of parturition, and determining the occurrences of fetal readiness, the onset of parturition, and fetal stress syndrome, that can be adapted for a number of families of mammalian females with minor modifications and are accurate, reliable, safe, convenient and economical. Our intravaginal device is a: 1) Warning device for the detection of delivery in domestic animals and livestock, able to detect many scientific parameters of the whole delivery phase and, immediately, to signal the event to operators through several transmission techniques, with data examined on screen and elaborated by software, characterized by a biocompatible probe to insert at the back of the vaginal canal of the female in proximity of the delivery. This probe is expulsed by the vagina during the second stage of labour, when foetal annexes and foetus’ body cross the vaginal canal. The unit is composed by two stackable pieces: a base and a cylindrical bin. The base is useful to maintain the device inside the vagina, while the bin contains one or more sensors and one transmitter (at least) able to transmit scientific parameters and to signal when the device is out of the animal’s body.2) Warning device for the detection of delivery in domestic animals and livestock, according to the first claim, characterized by a probe, containing one or more physical sensors and the transmitter, that is inserted inside the vaginal canal with the transmitting + sensory unit inside the bin oriented toward the external cervical orifice, while the base or supporting anchor is toward the vulva. 3) Warning device for the detection of delivery in domestic animals and livestock, according to the first claim, characterized by a probe and the transmitting + sensory unit inside the bin, of several dimensions that can be modified depending on animal species.
