In this paper we consider the Husserl's reflections about the function of the philosopher in the life of humanity. In particular, Husserl argues that the philosopher is a true vocation and that his task is to show humanity the “hidden meaning” in its history and to bring it to light as a guide for philosophy and for every single man. In this respect the traditions and values of the past take on an important role in the formation and growth of the sense (the telos) in itself.

Abstract

In this paper we consider the Husserl's reflections about the function of the philosopher in the life of humanity. In particular, Husserl argues that the philosopher is a true vocation and that his task is to show humanity the “hidden meaning” in its history and to bring it to light as a guide for philosophy and for every single man. In this respect the traditions and values of the past take on an important role in the formation and growth of the sense (the telos) in itself.
