Abstract

The biodegradable fraction of the MSW can represent an important source of renewable energy, able to reduce the GHG production and to increase the economical benefits arising from the emission trading market. In any case this goal has to be pursued trying to match, in the most suitable way, the management and environmental aspects with the economical one. For doing this, the possibility of exploiting a Solid State Anaerobic Digestion process, together with the management of the landfill in wet way, has been evaluated considering the Umbria region case study.
