We introduce a weighted generalized variation as the Burkill-Cesari integral of a suitable interval function. In particular, we get existence, lower semicontinuity (with respect to a.e. convergence) and comparison results. Our results represent an extension of well-known theorem obtained by Kaiser, Goffman and Cesari for the generalized variation.
