Aiming at determining cumulated event–duration (ED) rainfall thresholds for shallow landslides in Calabria, a statistical analysis of past rainfall events that resulted in shallow slope failures has been performed. Information on rainfall-induced landslides occurred in the period 1996-2011 has been derived from newspapers (local, regional, national). For these landslide events, hourly rainfall data have been selected from the database provided by the Civil Protection Department and from the Regional Agency for the Environment Protection (ARPACAL).
