The present invention improves the diagnostic accuracy in differential diagnosis between PD and other neurodegenerative diseases. The method of the invention comprises the measurement of the concentration in cerebrospinal fluid of alpha-synuclein (a-syn), total tau (t-tau) and phosphorylated tau (p-tau). The ratio between t-tau (and/or p-tau) and a-syn concentrations represents the best parameter for discriminating PD from other neurodegenerative diseases.
