In the multilingual reality of the Spanish Naples of the 1500, the confrontation among civilizations imposes itself as a main subject, especially when the mentioned cultures are the Spanish and the Italian one. Moments of exchange and interaction identify the inter-literarian community which is slowy forging itself, offering interesting cases of Italian-Spanish and Spanish-Italian language crossing, not to mention trans-codification, both in a poetic and in a theatrical and novellistic field. In theatre, specifically, the names which arise are those of Torres Naharro and Della Porta, in whose works the experiments with the poligloxy transcend the mere function of the characters' social-geographical connotation to impose itself as a techique used with recreational purposes; in novels, the linguistic misunderstanding have often been used to recall stereotypical traits of the figure of the Spanish man, as in some novels of the Fuggilozio of Tommaso Costo.
