This is the second of a set of two volumes collecting sected papers of James Serrin, with commentaries. In particular, this second volume is devoted to works which are more directly related to applications in the physical sciences. Thevolume is grouped into a large variety of fields, and into topics within the fields, as shown in the table of contents. A special feature of the volume is that, in most cases, the papers in a particular topic are preceded by a commentary written by an expert on the subject. These commentaries are intended to indicate how the papers are related to other work, including future work on this topic.
