The food waste is the most recent chapter of the Geography of food. It is a cross-cutting issue, possible to be explored by several branches of learning and research (geography, economics, business administration, sociology, cultural anthropology...). In fact, this phenomenon results from bad habits or economic approaches poorly oriented towards saving and reuse, as well as from regional systems so much improvable about logistics and infrastructure. This paper first considers the amount of waste in different regions of the world, including Italy, then the main initiatives on a global scale aimed at combating it.

Abstract
The food waste is the most recent chapter of the Geography of food. It is a cross-cutting issue, possible to be explored by several branches of learning and research (geography, economics, business administration, sociology, cultural anthropology...). In fact, this phenomenon results from bad habits or economic approaches poorly oriented towards saving and reuse, as well as from regional systems so much improvable about logistics and infrastructure. This paper first considers the amount of waste in different regions of the world, including Italy, then the main initiatives on a global scale aimed at combating it.File in questo prodotto:
