The paper, extracted from a work in AL. Rivista di studi di Anthologia Latina 7 (2016), examines under a textual point of view the Vergilian cento Hercules et Antaeus; starting from the conservation of the transmitted reading of the name of the giant, it proposes a new interpretation of the allusive function of Antaeus/Antheus in the storytelling of the cento. It gives also emendations on vv.7 and 11.
