This publicatio is a response to the critical reviews of Milone et al.,'s 2015a,b,c,d book. It elaborates on the four key elements regarding the role of new peasantries in Europe, China and Brasil, e and furthers the debate about the role that they play in rural development. This introductory chapter is followed by three chapters that expand on each of these four core themes, discussed at the panel session in Toronto, followed by a final chapter containing the author's responses to the reviews.
