the first to use the concept «Marian Renaissance» was the Italian historian G. Cracco who applied it to the historical, cultural, social and political situation of Italy of second half of XIV—XV centuries. St. Mary begins to occupy a dominant position in theological thought, and in the collective and individual psychology; in this time are formed new forms of Marian cult with new celebrations. The same term can be used to identify the general and the particular in the Russian cultural and historical processes of the XIV—XVII centuries. The role of the Mother of God in the events of history is constantly increasing, reaching the top in the Time of Troubles. Russian specificity consists in the formation of a large number of liturgical texts, which honored the miracle-working icon of the Theotokos. For Russian Marian Renaissance these are the most important and informative texts. Approach to them and methods of their study must be developed in future.
