Osservatorio regionale sull’immigrazione: l’inserimento e l’integrazione sociale nel modello umbro

This essay illustrates the integration policies of immigrants in the Umbria Region. The essay highlights the topicality of the Regional Law 18/1990, one of the most advanced in Italy, in guaranteeing equal rights and equal opportunities for the immigrant population, which organized and supported the expansion of a network between institutions, bodies, third parties sector and civil society, to grow a community of citizens inspired by the principles of social justice and solidarity, promoting a widespread culture of integration that lives and manifests itself in families, schools, workplaces and other social groups, pursued also through an intense project activity. In the second part of the essay, the main current critical issues are illustrated and commented, connected to the effects of the economic crisis that has hit Italy in the last decade, and to some choices of the last governments that have put the national system in crisis, and therefore regional, to support the integration of immigrants.
