Rotuli lectorum are a classic source for university history research; however, they present different characteristics and interpretative problems in different locations. The paper examines the records related to the first decades of the eighteenth century in the University of Perugia and proposes a discussion of a number of points: the tractability of the data for their input into prosopographical databases (particularly in Onomasticon); the use of the contents in relation to the rules and the purposes for which the rotuli were compiled; and the validity of the contents in function of economic history analyses. Taking these elements into consideration, an aggregate reading of the data is proposed as an index of the investments made in the different disciplinary areas and a mirror of the cultural policy of the university's governing authorities.

Abstract
Rotuli lectorum are a classic source for university history research; however, they present different characteristics and interpretative problems in different locations. The paper examines the records related to the first decades of the eighteenth century in the University of Perugia and proposes a discussion of a number of points: the tractability of the data for their input into prosopographical databases (particularly in Onomasticon); the use of the contents in relation to the rules and the purposes for which the rotuli were compiled; and the validity of the contents in function of economic history analyses. Taking these elements into consideration, an aggregate reading of the data is proposed as an index of the investments made in the different disciplinary areas and a mirror of the cultural policy of the university's governing authorities.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
