Nowadays, organochalcogen chemistry has huge relevance in organic synthesis, pharmaceutical and bioorganic chemistry, biology, and material science. In the last two decades, a number of new strategies for the synthesis of organochalcogen compounds in nonconventional solvents/reaction media have appeared in the literature. These valuable methods combine an efficient and selective access to functionally and structurally diverse molecules with the eco-compatibility and offer advantages such as high yields, good regio- and stereo-selectivities, short reaction times, operational safety, easy workup, and efficient recovery and recycling of the solvent.

Abstract

Nowadays, organochalcogen chemistry has huge relevance in organic synthesis, pharmaceutical and bioorganic chemistry, biology, and material science. In the last two decades, a number of new strategies for the synthesis of organochalcogen compounds in nonconventional solvents/reaction media have appeared in the literature.
