The present study is a sociolinguistic investigation in the Italian school system of the phenomenon of Child Language Brokering (CLB), namely the set of linguistic mediation activities conducted by foreign students to facilitate communication among their relatives and the institutions and citizens of the host country. The spread and complexity of the phenomenon requires the collection and analysis of empirical data to develop inclusive and effective educational policies. The administration of a questionnaire to 347 students of 36 different nationalities, attending two secondary high schools in Perugia, allowed the detection of diverse features typically ascribable to CLB practices.
