Against the positivist attitude that regards the person as one among others in the world, an object to be studied with precise rules and obvious mechanisms, Edith Stein proposes another model of the person. The person is not, in her thought, an object. And although her corporeity (Körper) can be approached according to causal laws, or “physical causality”1 , she is also made of spirit. Her reality is therefore a composite reality made up of the body that can be certainly studied according to the laws of nature (mechanistically). But also of that ones of the spirit. For this reason, according to her, philosophical anthropology needs to turn to a spiritual approach that can highlight this special nature of the human being.

Abstract
Against the positivist attitude that regards the person as one among others in the world, an object to be studied with precise rules and obvious mechanisms, Edith Stein proposes another model of the person. The person is not, in her thought, an object. And although her corporeity (Körper) can be approached according to causal laws, or “physical causality”1 , she is also made of spirit. Her reality is therefore a composite reality made up of the body that can be certainly studied according to the laws of nature (mechanistically). But also of that ones of the spirit. For this reason, according to her, philosophical anthropology needs to turn to a spiritual approach that can highlight this special nature of the human being.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
