After the earthquake. Towards a sustainable model for the recovery and valorization of the Apennine cultural heritage of Umbria. - Eight years after the seismic events of 2016, this paper examines the Valnerina and Sibillini Mountains – internal and transitional areas between Umbria and Marche – and proposes an approach to local economic and social revitalization, still awaiting full implementation. Tangible and intangible cultural heritage are positioned as central to this process. The study outlines interventions along three key axes: identifying the heritage to be restored, including environmental, landscape, historical, artistic, architectural, and spiritual assets, alongside culinary traditions and at-risk techniques, knowledge, and practices; defining a recovery model with exemplary intervention methods; and promoting sustainable valorization through slow, experiential, and proximity-based tourism. This approach aims to enhance the attractiveness and competitiveness of these internal areas compared to the more tourist-heavy regions of Umbria and Marche.

Abstract
This approach aims to enhance the attractiveness and competitiveness of these internal areas compared to the more tourist-heavy regions of Umbria and Marche.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
