The essay proposes a reinterpretation of constitutional principles with the aim to define a frame-work capable of understanding the multiple facets and challenges of Ageing in an increasingly “long-lived society”. Social rights guarantees (health, work and social protection) must be reinter-preted in light of the objective of social sustainability of Ageing, a goal that can be achieved by enhancing the culture of solidarity (Article 2 of the It.Constitution) and equal treatment (Article 3) as a catalyst for reorganizing relationships between generations. Social sustainability of Ageing implies the need to enhance the prerequisites and conditions for ensuring Active Ageing, not only to maintain the harmonious coexistence of different generations in the labor market, but also to reorganize and rethink the tasks and responsibilities associated with caring for the most vulnera-ble elderly. This approach can provide policymakers with a framework for planning health, em-ployment, social security and social policies to meet the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s ageing society.

Abstract
This approach can provide policymakers with a framework for planning health, em-ployment, social security and social policies to meet the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s ageing society.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
