This volume—the result of a conference organized by the editor at Friedrich Schiller University in Jena in November 2024—is a collection of 10 chapters that bring together contributors from academia and policy in a broad and insightful discussion of Ukraine’s European prospects. More specifically, the book aims to shed light on the reforms, challenges, and factors needed for Ukraine to be admitted to membership of the European Union (EU), as well as on the implications that the Ukrainian accession may have on the existing EU institutions and policies, particularly in the field of European security. It also seeks to assess the relevance of the ongoing full-scale conflict with Russia to these ends.
