Current literature on the translation of comics is almost entirely written in languages other than English or by scholars working in non English-speaking countries, this being probably due to the dearth of English translations of comics. On the whole, this particular literary genre has not attracted the scholarly attention it deserves, owing principally to the lack of an established critical tradition. After providing a definition of the genre of comics, generally known as 'the ninth art', this article examines some aspects of the translation of comics from various perspectives: linguistic, semiotic and historical-cultural.

Abstract
Current literature on the translation of comics is almost entirely written in languages other than English or by scholars working in non English-speaking countries, this being probably due to the dearth of English translations of comics. On the whole, this particular literary genre has not attracted the scholarly attention it deserves, owing principally to the lack of an established critical tradition. After providing a definition of the genre of comics, generally known as 'the ninth art', this article examines some aspects of the translation of comics from various perspectives: linguistic, semiotic and historical-cultural.File in questo prodotto:
