Comics are a pervasive form of communication which happens to a large extent in translation, yet it has been a neglected area in translation studies research. This paper starts from a terminological discussion of comics and their semiotic status with regards to translation. Abstract
Comics are a pervasive form of communication which happens to a large extent in translation, yet it has been a neglected area in translation studies research. This paper starts from a terminological discussion of comics and their semiotic status with regards to translation. It is argued that comics can be characterized as semiotic environments and that comics translation should be ultimately treated in terms of intercultural translation. An overview of the literature on comics translation and an exemplification of several approaches which may be fruitfully adopted in the analysis of this art form are provided.File in questo prodotto:
