The proposal of this review, written by invitation for the XXXIII Summer School on Organic Synthesis “Attilio Corbella,” is to illustrate, through selected examples from the recent literature, the potentiality of Wittig-type reactions in the stereoselective synthesis of carbon-carbon double bonds and to focus the developments of these reactions in topical areas of modern organic chemistry, such as the asymmetric synthesis or the catalysis.
