An overview of corpus methodologies, resources and tools for the collection and analysis of conversational data. This book chapter begins with a discussion of data collection, transmission, and storage formats, and distinguishes between spoken corpora and speech corpora. It then goes on to compare and contrast qualitative and quantitative presentation formats and research methodologies. It concludes relating the types of analyses made possible by different approaches to corpus data to the notion of context.
