High sound insulation ventilating windows have been recently proposed for noise control in buildings close to motorways or railways, when noise barriers are not effective or too expensive. In previous works, various prototypes have been tested and their acoustic and airflow performances have been assessed, also verifying the influence of filtering systems in the aerator. The paper presents the results of a new campaign, aimed to test windows samples integrated with insulated rolling-shutter boxes. Sound reduction index R, single number sound reduction index Rw and the aerator airflow have been measured in the coupled reverberating room of the University of Perugia, considering different exercise conditions (pressure differences, aerator opening); acoustic intensity measurements have also been performed to verify the parts of the window which need to be optimized. The windows will be used for an experimental noise control project in a multi-storey building in the city of Genova, Italy, close to a high traffic flow motorway.

Abstract
The windows will be used for an experimental noise control project in a multi-storey building in the city of Genova, Italy, close to a high traffic flow motorway.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
