The objective of this paper is to employ the conceptual metaphor model to identify the abstract mapping speakers use to cognize color terms in English. The theories of conceptual metaphor and embodiment in the cognitive linguistics approach are relevant tools to operate a semantic analysis of chromatic terms and dimensions in natural language. The mapping that is generated reveals how the the signification of color is accessible through the distinguishing of light. By concentrating on LIGHT and the interaction with the domain of COLOR, our conceptualization of color terms in language emerges.File in questo prodotto:
