Preliminary experiments on calcium-alginate encapsulation of microcuttings (unipolar propagules) were performed to evaluate the use of the in vitro culture tecniques for the propagation and the preservation of different citrange rootstocks, such as Carrizo and Troyer. In this study, observations have been carried out on synthetic seeds produced encapsulating microcuttings obtained from the in vitro proliferation of C35 citrange, another important citrus rootstock. Particularly, uninodals segments (3-4 mm long) with two axillary buds, were encapsulated according the protocol reported by Germanà et al. (2011), involving a cold pretreatment at 4°C in the dark for 3 days of the microcuttings followed by a hormonal inductive treatment of the capsules for 3 days at 4°C in the dark, before the sowing on a substrate without hormones (R5HF). Five different theses have been tested, regarding the auxin and its concentration used in the hormonal inductive treatment: T1 (10 mg/l of IBA), T2 (10 mg/l of IAA), T3 (10 mg/l of NAA), T4 (5 mg/l IBA) and the control C, hormone-free.
