Pendulous ventrally angled positioned uterus is an important cause of delayed uterine clearance leading to reduced fertility in old multiparous mares. Uteropexy is the laparoscopic technique used to elevate uterus to a more horizontal and physiological position suturing uterine body and horns to the dorsal part of mesometrium (imbrication). This has been proved to be efficacious in eliminating the anatomic defect and in increasing reproductive capability. The aim of this study is to describe the surgical technique, complication and outcome of uteropexy in 3 mares using an absorbable suture with unidirectional shallow barbs. The suture device allows the apposition of the uterine wall to the dorsal part of the mesometrium in a continuous pattern without making knots neither at the beginning nor at the end of the procedure making the surgical technique easier and decreasing surgery time.
