The aim of this work is the study of the influence of the flaws and the edge finishing on the strength of the glass. An experimentation concerning glass beams of various sizes and different edge finishing tested in bending until collapse was performed. Using microscopic analysis of the fracture surface, the depth of the flaw and the mirror radius of the fracture were measured and consequently the resistance of glass was calculated. These results were agreed with those obtained from the fracture mechanics analysis.
