The Biomass Research Centre, section of CIRIAF, has recently developed a biomass boiler (300 kW thermal powered), fed by the poultry manure collected in a nearby breeding. All the thermal requirements of the breeding will be covered by the heat produced by gas combustion in the gasifier boiler. The work aims at describing an upgraded version of the plant, evaluating possible applications for electricity production by a Stirling engine coupled with the biomass gasifier. The application of biomass plants combined with Stirling engines is described. A technical model and an economic analysis are proposed, also in comparison with Organic Rankine Cycle turbines applications; incentives on renewable produced electricity are also finally provided.

Abstract
The Biomass Research Centre, section of CIRIAF, has recently developed a biomass boiler (300 kW thermal powered), fed by the poultry manure collected in a nearby breeding. All the thermal requirements of the breeding will be covered by the heat produced by gas combustion in the gasifier boiler. The work aims at describing an upgraded version of the plant, evaluating possible applications for electricity production by a Stirling engine coupled with the biomass gasifier. The application of biomass plants combined with Stirling engines is described. A technical model and an economic analysis are proposed, also in comparison with Organic Rankine Cycle turbines applications; incentives on renewable produced electricity are also finally provided.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
