In this new era of the Green Economy, the development of rural areas is closely linked to the paradigm of the Sustainable Development Strategy and the option of multifunctionality of rural enterprises. Multifunctionality is the key word of the new millennium. In this sense, tourist activities in rural areas (as Agriturism or Rural Tourism) plays a leading role in the process of development especially for the innovations reflected in the significant positive cash. In the century of communication even in rural areas a basic dissemination and widespread use of ICT become more and more important; in particular therefore the dissemination and use of the Broad Band especially in rural areas is crucial. The big push that are giving to the Smart Cities programs for urban areas must strengthen that of the Smart Communities for rural areas. Through a strong network and a technology program structured in rural areas, is possible to imagine building of interactive services for local marketing especially for advertising in order to promote a loyalty tourists (on the basis of an approach customer). The authors believe that a popular and innovative service of tourism in rural areas can’t be regardless of the expansion of ICT and Broad Band. In this paper, after a deep introduction about the objective of rural development and sustainability towards Horizon 2020, the author make several consideration regarding the importance of ICT and technology for the rural areas.
