Checklist and distribution of Lepidoptera Papilionoidea in Umbria Region (Italy). There is extensive knowledge of the geographical distribution of Italian Papilionoidea Lepidoptera although in Umbria there are still locations to be investigated. The aim of this study is to update the checklist of Papilionidea Lepidoptera in Umbria, giving special attention to Natura 2000 Sites, and to ascertain the distribution of their populations. During this research, carried out over five years (2006-2010), about 2,500 specimens belonging to 121 species and comprising 5 families were collected. In addition, the checklist was supplemented by unpublished data from private collections which brings the number of species to 126. Two species are reported for the first time. Three species, previously reported in Umbria were not found in this survey. Their inclusion in the checklist of Papilionoidea in Umbria brings the total number of species to 128.
