Chronic external and middle ear otitis are very common pathologies in dogs. When pharmacological treatments fails only surgical approach is practicable. The most used technique is Total Ear Canal Ablation and Lateral Bulla Osteotomy (TECA-LBO). The auditory sensation can be objectively tested by Auditory Brainstem Responses (ABR). The aim of this study is to evaluate auditory deficits before and after surgery. Preliminary results seems to suggest that there are no significant differences of auditory sensation before and after surgery even if responses can be obtained only after very high stimulation (130 dB SPL).
