Therefore, the objective of this paper is to clarify what type of embodied linguistic mechanisms is activated when we elaborate figurative speech about color. I exam the use of positive/negative assessment of metonymic and metaphoric linguistic expressions using the basic color categories, with reaction time latencies as a marker of the degree of processing facility (Sandford 2012). I also investigate Implicit Attitude Tests that measure the degree (speed) of compatibility between two categories to understand a predominant implicit assessment, in this case categories regarding metonymic and metaphoric color associates with pleasantness and unpleasantness (Sandford accepted). I discuss possible conceptual underpinnings that explain a predominance of a negative or positive bias in processing figurativity in these linguistic tasks.

Abstract
I discuss possible conceptual underpinnings that explain a predominance of a negative or positive bias in processing figurativity in these linguistic tasks.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
