The author analyses the series of Rivista d'Arte issued between 1904 and 1917-1918. A continuation of Miscellanea d'Arte,, the journal shows a coherent methodological approach. Pivotal is the late positivist documentary research, which is coupled with the discussion on attributions - still current today - namely of Tuscan artists and works. The author closely examines the results yielded by the journal contributors (mainly Cornelius von Fabriczy, Aby Warburg, Giovanni Poggi, Georg Gronau, Corrado Ricci,, Odoardo Giglioli, Egidio Calzini), on Medieval and Renaissance Art, the 17th and 18th century, drawing, art literature, restoration, collecting and urban planning.
