Experiments in truffle cultivation are missing large areas of information as far as planting and cultivation techniques of truffle host plants are concerned. Agronomical tests are being performed by some private enterprises, giving out almost no information and results do not allow any assessment. It is evident that each cultivated truffle bed must undergo suitable field operations in order to create favourable conditions to the production of truffle sporocarps. In some of the monitored truffle-beds, some sites have been chosen for agronomical field tests, including: mechanical tillage, irrigation, organic fertilization, host tree pruning and edging, and inoculation with spore solution. Different cultivation techniques have been applied following a random block scheme, on an average block plot of 2000 sq. meters. The aim is to assess the effect of single operations and of their combination on mychorrhizae development dynamics and on yield stabilization or inducement.
