During the second half of the nineteenth the Italian grape-growing, even though it is among the most important in the world for tradition, cultivated surface and amounts generated, has several weaknesses issues concerning cultivation and oenology. International exhibitions, join with technology and scientific development, offer a helping-hand for the growth of the sector just in a few decades. In the same period, relationships with United States both as a market and as a place of exchanging knowledge and of competence, have permitted the establishment of a relationship between the two states at the main point of grape-growing and oenology becoming a factor of growth and success for the both partners. In the United States, where grape-growing was developing, the Italian technicians had got an important role thanks to their competences, in Italy where the thousand-year-old grape growing and oenological tradition was improving according to the American production chain, which was more technology advanced. This collaboration has allowed the diffusion in Italy of competences as part of communication and marketing, relevant to support a quality product that was missing an accurate publicity.
