On the historic villas of Umbria we have now a wide literature, but the research has never focused on their parks and gardens, and in particular on the presence of mazes in the inside. This paper, based on bibliographic and field research, offers a census of Umbrian villas where it is known the past and/or current presence of a garden with maze, of which its shape, symbology and past and current function is illustrated.
