Abstract

While till few years ago job’s pathologies were mostly at monofactorial etiology, nowadays have raised work’s disconfort and pathologies defined stress related at multifactorial etiology. It’s an important issue that can’t be disregarded because stress can lead to depression which is one of the main reason in Europe of work abstention. One or multiple stress’ conditions, if particularly intense or extended for a long period of time, can be the cause of the burnout syndrome. Numerous international studies till the early 80s have focused the attention on the burnout syndrome in teachers and most recently as been confirmed as this category being at depression’s risk as exposed at a large number of stress caused by multiple factors (bureaucracy’s excess, a constant commitment with numerous students, difficult relationship with student’s families, scarce social recognition of the role, lack of training and career perspective). This paper considers organizational factors of discomfort related to teachers’ work, underlining how everywhere the many school reforms have not yet found adequate solutions to reduce the risk of stress and burnout among teachers.
