In Husserl ethics there is a re-evaluation of the emotional sphere against the prejudices of modernity and in opposition to Kant's ethics, according to which the only true a priori is the one determined by the categorical imperative. In the emotional sphere, for Husserl, there is an a priori (material one) that is involved with the subjective primal feeling, whose character is, however, objective and universal. In the light of this objectivity and on the individual awareness of such material a priori, Husserl believes the constitution of an authentic ethics possible. Moving from the essential sense (or telos) of which the individual actions are the bearer in the “impulsive intentionality”, this form of ethics - based on the self-determination of the will- will be scientifically constructed as material, a priori and universal ethics.
