The diffusions of new technologies, especially in the Information Technologies (IT) field, are changing the productive system and maintenance management as well. While there is the possibility of exploiting new features in maintenance system, all possible implications must be taken into account. In the paper, after a brief introduction, an industrial case with 2 manufacturing plants of a company is discussed. The difference in the maintenance management system is underlined by the different amount of data that is present in the 2 plants and the different possibilities for evaluating the plants performances are shown
