The cosmetic oncology is a branch of cosmetic, with high social and ethical value, born to support oncological therapies often responsible for serious modifications of the aspect, with consequent negative impact on patient’s quality of life, especially for women. The adverse reactions on skin and the annexes due to oncological therapies are often psychologically devastating. Moreover, in many female tumors these are enhanced by the hormonal levels inducing skin damage and photoinduced reactions. The last report of the Italian Association of Medical Oncology estimated that in Italy every day a malignant tumor is diagnosed to 1000 people. On the other hand the number of people alive after an early diagnosis is about 3.500.000 vs 3.000.000 in 2015 and 2.244.000 in 20061. These data suggest the high cancer impact in the society and the importance of prevention to limit its diffusion. The medical and pharmacological progress during the last years increased the survival, 63% women and 54% men are alive within five years from diagnosis. However, the side effects are still present, with consequent negative impact on the patient’s quality of life. The diffusion of new therapies that do not require patient hospitalization raises the need of new services from territorial pharmacies. Thus, the pharmacists must know the problems associated both to each disease and therapies supporting the patients in this difficult period of their life. Nowaday certified oncological pharmacies are arising with the objective to furnish services to support the oncological patient assistance. These services, based on both specific organizative, logistical and operative requirements and staff training, are characterized by promptness of intervention and relational adequacy, necessary for an adequate patient assistance. Projects of cosmetic oncology, involving many territorial pharmacies, raised with the idea that the attenuation of the external signs therapy-induced can contribute to the improvement of the patient quality of life.
