When a new scientific discovery is made, I always wonder whether this was the result of a sudden leap in knowledge due to an isolated intuition or whether the new discovery was the result of previous knowledge piling up, loading the spring for the imminent breakthrough. In the case of perovskite solar cells and optoelectronics, we can be sure that the spring was definitely loaded years before the recent perovskite era by the independent work on metal-halide perovskites as semiconductors for lighting applications by Mitzi and co-workers(1) and by years of studies and testing in the hybrid/organic photovoltaics and optoelectronics playground.

Abstract
When a new scientific discovery is made, I always wonder whether this was the result of a sudden leap in knowledge due to an isolated intuition or whether the new discovery was the result of previous knowledge piling up, loading the spring for the imminent breakthrough. In the case of perovskite solar cells and optoelectronics, we can be sure that the spring was definitely loaded years before the recent perovskite era by the independent work on metal-halide perovskites as semiconductors for lighting applications by Mitzi and co-workers(1) and by years of studies and testing in the hybrid/organic photovoltaics and optoelectronics playground.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
