This essay offers a historical insight into the Translation of the Holy House by Giambattista Tiepolo (1745), for the church of Santa Maria di Nazareth in Venice, destroyed in 1915 by an aerial bombing during the first World War. It is proposed to identify in the Carmelite friar Giuseppe Maria Sardi, the theologian who supervised the iconographic program, to enhance the centrality of the cult for the Madonna of Loreto in Venice. Furthermore, will be highlighted the role of the Venetian patrician Giorgio Contarini del Zaffo, as regards the financing of the frescoed decoration.
