This paper describes the research activity on financial crime detection developed by the computer engineering group at the University of Perugia. The presented research aims at designing and experimenting advanced visual interfaces to support financial crime detection, with a focus on tax evasion discovery. The activity of the group on this topic, which has been ongoing for ten years now, involves institutional and industrial collaborations and already led to system prototypes in use at different institutions. The scientific relevance of the research is witnessed by several publications in top-tier international journals and conferences.
